Railjacks are powerful spacecraft that allow a full squad Tenno to engage in space combat. Learning how they work and how to optimize their performance is essential.
1. What is a Railjack?
A Railjack is a customizable spaceship that you and your squad can control. Unlike Archwings, Railjacks have multiple stations that require player attention:
- Pilot: Controls the movement and navigation
- Turrets: Fire weapons at enemy fighters
- Repair Stations: Repair critical damage during combat
- Forge: Craft ammunition and other resources
2. Why Do I Need a Railjack?
The Empyrean star chart is tied to using Railjacks. Sevagoth is directly tied to Railjack missions. Completing missions without one means relying on the host’s equipment. You can earn Arcanes from the Orphix game type exclusive to the Empyrean star chart.

A Railjack is constructed during the Rising Tide quest, which requires completion of the Second Dream. The building can alternatively be bypassed by purchasing the Starter Railjack Bundle in the Market for 175 Platinum, which contains a fully built Railjack, 4 Crew Member Slots, and 4 Component & Armament slots. Obtaining the Railjack this way will count the Rising Tide quest as completed.
